Dealer Notes

An overdue redesign gives the 2019 Toyota RAV4 mini-SUV looks, but peel back its angular styling cues and it remains a pavement-pounding crossover more adept at taming the Target parking lot than climbing to base camp. The 2019 RAV4 comes in two basic guises. A 2.5-liter inline-4 powers LE, Adventure, XLE, and Limited trims and can be fitted with either front- or all-wheel drive. The RAV4 Hybrid channels its Prius sibling with gasoline-electric power but throws in an electric motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery to motivate the rear wheels for standard all-wheel drive. The base engine's 203 horsepower provides good around-town power matched by more underhood growl than in some rivals. While costlier than the base RAV4, the hybrid makes good use of its powertrain for better acceleration and highway passing. The 8-speed automatic transmission in the base RAV4 sorts through the gears quickly but lacks paddle shifters for descending grades. RAV4 Hybrids use an electronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) that's prone to surging. - Tinted Windows, Power Steering, Power Mirrors, Clock, Tachometer, Telescoping Steering Wheel, Steering Wheel Radio Controls, Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Side Airbags, Keyless Entry, Rear Defogger, Intermittent Wipers, AM/FM, Aux. • My best paved mountain vehicle every

We drove over 2000 miles in four states Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. We drove mountains roads, on flat roads and also cities. Great vehicle for driving on paved mountain roads, goes up and down great, at 40 mpg or more ! Hybrid will hold just about any speed up and down . I drove up Vale Pass east of Vale, Colorado (at 70 to 75 mph, gas motor got loader but didn't slow at all). I was even more impressed coming down I didn't have to use any brakes ( held speed exact ) , The Hybrid electric motors/generators held vehicle at correct speed. I was on very steep paved mountain road in Arizona held at 50 mph on very steep grade (the noise of electric motors/ generators made did get louder, 3 times on very steep areas ) I was also on steep paved Interstate 70 in Colorado held 70 to 80 mph without braking, only had to brake around five different times in 280 miles through Colorado when other vehicles going slow got into fast lane. I did drive through light snow in New Mexico and Arizona, no problem of gripping the road. Very Happy !
  • Love it, but flawed

We love this new hybrid and all of it’s new features for 2019. Lots of technology, good mileage. However, like others we experience the fuel gauge issue where you can only fill the gas tank somewhere between 3/4 and full. You never really know how much fuel you have. The Entunes 3.0 audio system is totally useless as it constantly displays errors on the head unit (download error) as well as error messages on your cell phone. Toyota continues after 7 months of ownership that these known issues will be fixed but despite many conversations with a case manager, no solutions are offered. Stay away from this vehicle until these issues are fixed.
  • Great car with feedback monitoring for hybrid

I have the XLE with the tech package. This car is amazing. It keeps me from hitting stuff when I get to close. It warns me when people are crossing behind me. Adaptive cruise control is my new best friend. Best of all, I like the gas mileage. I’m getting over 41 mpg per tank of gas. I drive city highway and rural river highway. Beats the 24 mpg on my 2010 Kia Soul. I find the RAV4 responsive, the engine quiet enough, and the new technology intuitive enough. This car was worth the 3 month wait.
